Philadelphia is the hometown of many great musicians, including one of the undisputed masters of jazz piano: Kenny Barron. Barron has an unrivaled ability to hypnotize audiences with his elegant playing, original phrasing, sensitive melodies and infectious rhythms. The Los Angeles Times called him “one of the best jazz pianists in the world” and for Jazz Weekly Barron is “The most lyrical pianist of our time”.
Of his long and bright career we must remember his beginnings alongside Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Morgan and Freddie Hubbard, as well as the wonderful and fruitful collaboration alongside Stan Getz, of which Barron was the favorite pianist.
Whether playing alone, in trio or in quintet, on the threshold of 80 years, Kenny Barron is recognized worldwide as one of the great Jazz Masters.
Barron is, in a word, a champion, who from the height of a very rich career has managed to advance the jazz piano to the point of bringing it to absolute concert levels.
Kenny Barron will tour accompanied by Japanese double bass player Kiyoshi Kitagawa and drummer Johnathan Blake, also from Philadelphia, two recognized talents who have long been part of the Barron Trio.
