Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company

Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company (KCDC), one of the leading dance companies in the world, is identified with the work of acclaimed Artistic Director Rami Be’er whose exclusive and unique choreographic character has become the company’s trademark both in Israel and abroad. The company performs regularly in some of the most respected theaters and festivals worldwide. The company’s base in the International Dance Village in the Western Galilee of northern Israel is home to both its Main Company and the Second Company (KCDC 2). KCDC2 was initiated by Rami Be’er in 1994 with the intent to establish a fresh, new professional troupe to appear before young audiences and to nurture future dancers of the main company while exposing the younger and broader population to contemporary dance.

The committed performance of the cast and the purity of the choreography will win you over!” – The New York Times

ASYLUM (new work 2018) In his most recent work, Be'er confronts some of the burning issues on the international stage: Refugeehood, immigration and the fate of asylum seekers. Approaching the issue from an existential point of view, raising questions that examine concepts related to immigration; such as ‘homeland’, identity, belonging, foreignness, longing and home. According to Be’er, these are concepts that are relevant to every person. The sense of refugeehood is an existential experience and part of our search for home and identity. “An extraordinary composition of a seasoned artist and a master in composition. The technical level of the company is exceptional!” -Ruth Eshel
