Ballet Junior de Genéve

Created in 1980, the Ballet Junior is a true stepping stone bewteen training and professional life. It allows young dancers, coming from all horizons, to work with many choreographers and perform on stage several times per season. By strengthening their skill through stage experience, it facilitates their entrance into active work. From technical classes in the morning to afternoon rehearsals, the rythm of daily work is the same as that of a professional company.
Collaborating with renouned professionals is constant and exchanges with similar organisations abroad are coordinated. The type of work spans from restaging existing works to creating new pieces. The Ballet Junior posesses a large repertoire including: Boléro and La Mort du Cygne by Thierry Malandain, Largo by Lucinda Childs, Clash by Patrick Delcroix, Delicado by Gilles Jobin, Aspects of Love by Stijn Celis, Suite pour Violes by Dominique Bagouet, /paon/ by Yuval Pick, Rythmix Dancerun.5 by Foofwa d’Imobilité, Parade by Kirsten Debrock…The Ballet Junior is a pre-professional company and place of artistic emergence that emphasises contact with the professional environment. Dancers do not receive payment. Every year many of its young dancers go to join top companies (Nederlands Dans Theater, Ballet Biarritz, Ballet de l’Opéra National de Lyon, Ballet Preljocaj, DV8…). Over the years, the Ballet Junior has therefore acquired an international reputation.
